I have finally come up with a design solution for the poker table hoist in my garage. I've been wanting to build something even before actually building the table, but the table had to come first. Then I was going to build a hoisting storage solution quickly thereafter.
Is 6 months quickly? I guess like everything, it's all relative.
Anyway, the biggest hangup was the design of a system that could:
-hold multiple tables (gotta build more!)
-hoist above the garage door
-be motor driven, I'm too lazy to pull it up by hand
The last requirement has been the killer. I kept coming up complex series of pulleys and winches, but nothing that could be realistically be built by yours truly. But last nite I had a breakthru idea, and it's quite cheap, relative to buying a $750 ceiling winch, anyway. I've got the initial pieces, but hopefully next weekend I will start building it and of course, that will mean detailed pictures and drama spelled out here. Stay tuned!
