last cup of sorrow

Does anybody notice that every entry title is actually the name of a song? Just curious. I even go out of my way to find a song title that might seem to correlate to the entry's contents, so I just thought going that "extra mile" for you would garner a little more feedback. Such is life.
I just found out that my windows genuine fix isn't permanent, so it's back to the drawing board.
I told my dad and Ann this story, but it's good enough to make sure everyone else hears it. Everyone else = 3 more people.
My friend Jay had this bike

This bike is stupid fast and powerful. He recently decided to get rid of it because he didn't like the payment. We both put our hondas on craigslist around the same time. I was getting several inquiries, but no takers, and he was getting nothing. We would run into each other around town and talk about our lack of sales prowess. So he called me Saturday and said "Hey, I finally sold the bike yesterday" and proceeded to tell me this story.
I had only a couple calls on the bike after trying craigslist, ebay and the local paper twice. One call was from a lady who said she wanted to get it for her son as his first bike. I told her "no, this is not a good first bike for someone" and ultimately turned her away. Finally I got a call from a deputy sheriff from Omaha, but he was younger than I expected, like 25. He sounded educated and generally knowledgeable about bikes on the phone, and said he would buy it. He said he would need to bring a ride down to help him get the bike. Which is obvious, if you're planning on riding it back to Omaha.
So he showed up with his dad, and he was going to ride it home. We agreed on a price, and he wrote me a check, then we went out so I could show him all the specifics of the bike, like how to remove the seat, use the helmet lock, etc. Then he started asking questions like "how do the gears work?"
And I thought "really? Well, maybe all bikes aren't the same, I mean, they at least have a different number of gears" and said 1 down and 5 up.
Then he asked "What RPM is good to shift the gears at?"
I thought "OK, that's strange." but said "I guess you just go by feel. The power band is around 6k"
He nodded his head knowingly, so I felt a little better.
Then I start it, and he hops on it, while his dad and I are standing by watching, and he just revs it up over and over into the 8-9k range, and then presses the shifter down without grabbing the clutch, which of course, kills it.
His dad says "you have to pull the clutch in before you shift"
I think "seriously?!? This could be bad"
He starts it, and again revs it very high several times before clutching, shifting, and letting go of the clutch, shooting forward towards the garage, which is 15 ft away. He panics, grabs the brake just in time to not hit the garage wall, and falls over.
I couldn't believe it, this bike was pristine, not a scratch of any sort on it. This guy has it for less than 5 minutes, and now it's got a terrible huge scratch on the left side. we start it again, and this time with much less enthusiasm gets it going and rides off, while I just stand there in shock with his dad, who says "Oh, he's real good at learning quickly at these kinds of things."

After he told me that story, I said "Wow. Good thing you got the check from him before he wrecked it. Of course, now you can't help but feel like you just killed that guy"
He said, "yeah, you're right".

So look in the Omaha paper for that guy.
