reborn

It's finally alive again.
Server clearly took a big dump. Well, not the whole server, just apache, the webserver, which is all that matters to you.
I had to move the whole shebang to a totally different machine.
No more upgrades for apache. I guess I will have to take the big industry approach, and have a test machine to test all updates from this point forward.

bleh. Now this is like work.

raliegh

This new OJ situation confuses me.
On the one hand, I am amazed this guy is out on the streets. I mean, they apparently found the only 12 people in the world who didn't think he's guilty when he was on trial. So now we have what the rest of the sane world considers a murderer out and about for the last 12 years.
But the guy seems to be a media whore, along the lines of how madonna and Michael Jackson used to be, and Brittany is now. I'm convinced these people are doing absolutely absurd things, with no regard to anyone else, purely for the sake of keeping themselves in the spotlight.

Gilbert Gotfried had a great bit about madonna when she was waning in popularity, about how none of what she said or did was being considered newsworthy anymore, so she was just going to go around slapping people, proclaiming "I'm controversial!".

Apparently that really is OJ. Maybe once you get to a certain level of popularity, your brain snaps, and you no longer can grasp the morals you may have once had, and you're just willing to do whatever it takes to get in the limelight.

I'm tired of hearing about him frankly. I could care less what he does. Someone should just transport him to a new prison facility and "lose" him over some deserted island, ala con air.

far cry

Not my best of weekends. I didn't get nearly as much done as I had initially thought I was going to.
Then I went to take the GS out for a ride, you know, the GS that's for sale.
I discovered that the right side of the gas tank had several fresh scratches in it, so it is now rendered basically unsellable. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that.
I did manage to do just a small amount of yard work, but didn't get to work on the nissan's brakes, and did not fully get the new upstairs computer working like I wanted.
Sigh.
Now it is a new week, maybe this week can be more productive...

3 libras

So in 6 months, I will have been married for 10 years. It's been a pretty good 10 years.
For our 5 year anniversary, we went to Ireland and London, and had a great time. So I've been thinking lately about what we should do (ie. where we should go) for our 10 year anniversary.
I was primarily considering going back to Ireland, trying to hit more western and northern parts, and then going to Scotland and wales as well.
Then a friend says to me me one day while we're playing racquetball, "Hey, my boss (the owner of the company) has a 5 bedroom house in Hawaii that the employees can reserve for a week at a time, and we can stay at for free. I reserved it next spring for me and my wife, you and Ann want to go?"
Yes, yes we do.
Freaking awesome!
He's also inviting more of his friends, but we know them to, so it should be a great time.
The place is walking distance from the beach as well. Since accommodations are the one of the biggest expenses of going there, this is going to be great.
We are also talking about making a point to do the layover in Vegas and staying there a day or two.

panic at the disco

Sorry everyone. I did the usual, "upgrade the server = break something on the server", and this time the something was the webserver.
Down for one day, but now back.
Had an eventful weekend, but I will post about it later, as right now, I'm tired.

virus

So there's a whole show on tonite about "viral video", which seems to be a broad term for the most popular youtube-type videos, and about how it's changing the "model" of advertising. Because if you can make a popular online video that becomes popular, it's free advertising for you.

And, because it's not censored, they tend to be pretty risque.

This is one of the funniest ones I've seen recently.

it's not a fashion statement, it's a deathwish

Ah, my chemical romance. Sellouts, extraordinaries.

A good labor day weekend here.

Friday, I cleaned up the basement and "worked" from home so I could clean up the basement. Friday nite I did nothing I can remember.
Saturday, we had Joe and Shannon come down so we could watch their kid Karsyn Daly, which I was heavily involved in. NOT! Yeah, that's right, I'm in 7th grade.
Ann watched Karsyn all day, while I watched tv, and installed the last of the amenities to the downstairs bathroom, so it now has mirrors, towel bars, toilet paper holders, and stuff that isn't technically required for you to go in there to shower and crap, but it does make it look nicer.
Saturday nite, I think I we went out to eat, and then went to bed early.
Sunday, we met some friends at branched oak lake, and did some tubing. Then we had dinner at Jake's place and had a campfire. I was all fired up to spend the nite there so I could tell the kids we went camping, but all the women chickened out before we got there, and put the brakes on that plan.
It was pretty funny though, as we were sitting at the campfire, we started hearing many real world animal noises, such as owls and coyotes, where the girls and most especially Ann were promoting the idea of leaving right away. It was like 10pm.
So whatever, I got go home, take a shower and be in bed again by midnite.

Today I did almost nothing. I got up and mowed the lawn right away, so I didn't have to do that in the heat of the day, and then I just watched tv most of the rest of the day.

my recommendation of the moment is this winamp skin.

If you don't have winamp, get it. It's opensource, the best player out there. This skin is just sort of a nerd's delight.

A last thought, now that making Tshirt slogans is more trivial than changing a tv channel (something which us old guys can still appreciate) this T-shirt slogan is one I must have

I needed this t-shirt when I was a kid.

my life

Ok, management of the website has been sporadic because of the change to/from MT4.0, and I've been very busy at work lately.
I am actively pursuing a solution to the microsoft project, that will also let me use the solution as a thesis for my masters.
In the meantime, I'm the girl's soccer coach, and taking Aubrey to hockey, putting in the last of the ammenaties into the downstairs bathroom, etc, etc.
So here's some new pictures since I don't have anything really interesting to say.
