leave the light on

Notice the lack of posts recently?
Yeah, that would be an ego stroke.
I mentioned before how ALL my laptops died at once. I had a total of three to choose from before, now, zero.
My typical day would be work all day, but it consists of so much stupid non-work, like scheduling tasks, conference calls, etc, that very little actual work could get done.
So I would wait for the kids to go to bed, and I would end up doing a fair amount of work in the evenings, sitting at the laptop at the kitchen table while watching tv.
With no laptop to do this with now, I suddenly look incredibly unproductive.
Reason enough right there for work to get me a new laptop, I say. I've been told it's in the works, but I'll believe it when it shows up at my door.

So all this week, all I do is come home, eat, and watch tv. I don't have any large home projects right now. The main things I want to work on require a windows machine, and I don't have have any now that the laptops are dead.

I watched Blades of Glory, and that was an abortion of a movie.

So I've been seeing a lot of promos for the showtime show Dexter, and it looked intriquing. So I downloaded all of last season's shows to check it out.
Dexter is officially my new favorite program. Acting is good, story is beyond great, and the writing is both very good as well.

The story is almost like a moral in the Aesop's fable's vein.  If I could edit it somehow to exclude the most gory scenes, and the swearing, I would have my kids watch it as a moral training tool.
Dexter is the vengence/revenge movies of Schwarzenegger (Raw Deal), or  Mel Gibson (Payback) taken to the next level. Those movies were very brute force, chugging forward in their over-the-top violence like a freight train. They are fun to watch, but wholly unbelievable. Dexter is slicker, more thoughtful, and uncomfortably believable.

I highly suggest checking it out.
